God’s Story and My Life

The story of God and the Bible should always impact our decisions in life because we are the story; God is the storyteller. God always knows what decisions we will make, even if they aren’t smart. The story of scripture should always have an impact on our character and our integrity because we were made in God’s image and we should strive to be like him. Also, Jesus, the Savior of us all, should have an impact on how we choose to live. Live for Jesus and the fact that He died on a cross to save you from your sins. And yet, we take it for granted daily. Lastly, I would like to conclude in saying that even though God isn’t there to personally guide us in our daily lives, His word is and it can help us make decisions and live as though today were our very last day.

The Good Samaritan

The Good Samaritan

This new testament parable is one that most take for granted. The Good Samaritan is a parable that Jesus used to teach his disciples a lesson when they were in doubt. This parable inquires that we are to be kind to others and love one another as we love ourselves. Luke 10:27 states, “He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”The Good Samaritan parable also explains that there will always be people in this world that will not stop to help you when you clearly need it. I think Jesus used this passage to explain to his followers that even though someone you despise has fallen, your ONLY option is to help them get back up. The neighbor to whom Jesus implies, is the one to whom we must love even more than ourselves. It is not the act of doing, but the act of loving that is prominently shown throughout this particular passage. Jesus uses His many parables to teach the disciples that forgiveness is the most powerful form of love that truly shows in your actions.
